More Detroit Pot Stores May Be Coming

The Detroit City Council is expected to get updated today on the city’s medical marijuana efforts.

There is an effort underway to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to operate near liquor stores, child-care centers and parks.

This would require an amendment to the current Detroit law.

The measure could end up on the November ballot because a group has submitted thousands of signatures in support of the move.

The petitions were submitted last month to Detroit Elections Director Daniel Baxter.

He then turned the initiative over to the city council.
