Another smash and grab robbery attempt using a U-Haul truck is being investigated. A Family Dollar store on Jefferson Avenue on Detroit’s east side had it’s front crashed in by thieves, who smashed in to try to steal the safe. A witness tells police the thieves tried to drag the safe out of the building with the U-Haul with a chain. But the chain broke. The safe was left behind in the parking lot.
Police spotted the truck and after a chase, the thieves bailed out and ran away on foot. Police are reviewing surveillance video.
