Why This Lansing Man Killed His Stepdaughter

A Lansing-area man is sentenced today in the death of his 5 year old stepdaughter.
25 year old Thomas McClellan is to be sentenced to life in prison.

It was November first of last year.

He was watching the girl while her mother was at work.

In a taped confession during his trial he said he stabbed the girl five times because she had interrupted his nap and wanted something to eat.

He said he then piled blankets and paper towels on her body, doused the pile with vodka and set it on fire to try and destroy evidence of the killing.

Hours after the stabbing, he surrendered to police.
