Demo Time For Dome

The wrecking ball will soon be swinging to tear down what’s left of the Pontiac Silverdome.

Pontiac city officials have been notified that the owners of the Silverdome intend to start demolishing the part of the stadium that’s still standing. The dome collapsed long ago, leaving the former home of the Lions and the Pistons one of area’s most glaring urban ruins.

Pontiac forced the Toronto-based owner to act after a long legal fight.
The Oakland Press reports the walls will come down in sections, top to bottom. Complete demolition will take several months.
