Damage restoration companies from the Detroit area are in Houston and the surrounding area. Bill Jarvis, of Jarvis Restoration, based in Harrison Twp., is there with his team, examining homes and wreckage.
Jarvis says he has witnessed many acts of kindness and rescue efforts by citizens who are helping other victims, usually trapped by water on highways and streets.
Sheldon Yellen, CEO of Belfor Property Restoration, based in Birmingham, says the houses that we see on TV news coverage that are half underwater probably will be damaged too severely to be repaired. This means thousands will lose their homes.
Both companies have worked in many disaster zones, and they expect to be working in the Houston area for the foreseeable future.
