Ex-Con Back To Prison For Cop Ambush

He was convicted of trying to ambush some Detroit police officers.

And today he will be sentenced. Three Detroit police officers stopped to investigate an empty car left running in the middle of the street near east seven mile and the I-75 freeway.

Suddenly they were under assault.

At least five shots were fired at them from a man sitting on a porch across the street.

None of the officers was hit.

Police Chief James Craig says it was lucky that 45 year old Andre Carter’s gun then jammed and police were able to subdue him.

Craig said Carter was a career criminal who had ben paroled earlier last year after serving time on a 2nd degree murder charge.
