What about the pets in the floods caused by Storm Harvey?
Many animals are presumed dead and some have been rescued. Like their owners, pets are being allowed in the shelters in Texas all across the Golf Coast . Debby McDonald with The Michigan Humane Society says that’s a first in disaster response.
McDonald says humane societies and animal shelters will be taking in displaced dogs and cats from the flood zone, which will undoubtedly put pressure on their resources.
