Drones Drop In At Prison

They went hi-tech in their effort to smuggle drugs and other items into a Michigan prison, but now they’re facing lengthy prison terms.

It was the early morning hours of August 17th.

Corrections officers at the prison in Ionia heard the sound of a drone and saw it drop two packages into the prison yard.

Guards were sent outside of the prison walls and found one man in a parked car and two others walking toward it.

Arrested on the spot were 32 year old Jonathan Roundtree, 34 year old Daryl Marshall and 22 year old Patrick Seaton Junior.

All are from Detroit.

The bags that were dropped into the prison contained marijuana, 3 cell phones and razor blades.

Prison officials say the use of drones to smuggle items into prison has been a growing problem and that this is one of the first cases in the nation where the suspects were caught in the act.

The 3 men are due in court today for a preliminary exam.
