Sentence For Fireman Death Collecting For MDA

A Lansing man is scheduled to be sentenced today in the death of a Lansing firefighter.

24 year old Grant Taylor had been charged with running down 35 year old Dennis Rodeman as he and other firefights had been out collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy

Association back in September of 2015.

Taylor got angry with the traffic delays, argued with Rodeman, then drove away.

But witnesses say he then turned his car around and deliberately ran the firefighter down.

Taylor, who has a history of mental illness was initially charged with 2nd degree murder.

At a hearing last month, he pled guilty, but mentally ill to the charge.

Sentencing guidelines call for him to get a minimum prison term of 30 years.
