Pot Panel Could Snuff Out Dispensaries

The Michigan Medical Marijuana Licensing Board meets today. It could cut back the spread of medical marijuana.
Two members of the board want to shut down dispensaries now in operation for the next few months.

Board chairman Rick Johnson and board member Don Baily want the operations closed until the board begins handing out licenses next year.

Others on the 5-member board are concerned about how existing dispensaries should be dealt with as they develop rules for licensing.

They also wonder about the well being of current patients who frequent their local stores for their medical marijuana.

The move to close the stores could put hundreds of medical marijuana dispensaries across the state out of business and thousands of patients with no place to get the
marijuana they say they need to deal with a variety of ailments.
