Another Plea Coming In Macomb Trash Scandal

A plea hearing is scheduled for today for one of the 15 people now charged in the ongoing federal investigation into the Macomb County corruption scandal.

The investigation has centered on bribes paid to officials in several communities for their votes in awarding trash hauling contracts to the now defunct Rizzo Environmental Services company.

Due in court today is engineering contractor Paul Modi and he is expected t plead guilty to the charges against him..

He was charged along with James Pistilli with being go–betweens with an unnamed company that was trying to land a contract with Washington township.

The 68 year old Pistilli of Holly was the latest to be charged in the bribery conspiracy.

The one-time chief engineer for the Macomb County public Works Department was arraigned last week and pled not guilty.

The alleged conspiracy involving Pistilli took place in the spring of 2014 after he had retired from the county. The Rizzo company was sold to a Canadian firm.
