Killer Turns 21, Going Free

Demarco Harris is to be released from prison today.

It’s his 21st birthday.

Harris, of Detroit,  has been in prison for the past seven years.

He was 12 when he was convicted in the fatal shooting of 24 year old Trisha Babcock of Davison  during a robbery-gone-wrong and ordered held in a juvenile facility until his 21st birthday.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Virgil Smith held a hearing in the case last week to decide if Harris should be freed or sent to prison as an adult.

He listened to testimony and determined that Harris has been rehabilitated and could be set free.
