Police Union Official Awaits Jury Verdict

An Oakland County Circuit Court jury will today try to decide the fate of the President of the Detroit Police Officers Association.

42 year old Mark Diaz was tried on charges of malicious destruction of property and reckless driving.

Diaz testified on the last day of his trial Friday that me made a foolish mistake, but that he didn’t commit a crime.

He explained that he was returning to his home in Holly back on December 20th when he decided he wanted to test the four wheel drive on his union-issued pickup truck.

He drove onto the grounds of the snow-covered 34 acre Holly academy charter school near his home and began driving thru snow banks.

Diaz said he had no intention of hurting anyone or causing any damage.

However, investigators say he caused 42-hundred dollars to a culvert and some steel cable in the grassy area of the school.

They also point out that Diaz lost a bumper on his truck during what they called his joyride.
