Former trash haulers Chuck Rizzo and his father Charles are hauled into court, expected to plead guilty in federal court to corruption charges.
The former trash hauling operators have been at the center of a federal investigation in Macomb County.
According to the indictment, Chuck and Charles Rizzo stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from Rizzo Environmental Services to pay for Chuck Rizzo’s multi-million dollar mansion.
They’re also accused of stealing money from the company for bribes to secure contracts in various communities. The Rizzo’s had sold majority ownership of their company to private equity.
More than a dozen local officials have been charged or have pleaded guilty to taking bribes.
