State Official Back In Flint Court

Testimony is scheduled to resume today in the preliminary exam for Michigan Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon.
Lyon is facing two charges …. involuntary manslaughter in the death of an 85 year old Genesse Township man, and obstruction of justice for deliberately failing to warn the public of an outbreak of Legionnaires disease.

An outbreak of the disease in 2014 and 2015 ended up taking the lives of 12 people and sickening 79 others.

At issue in Lyon’s case is why it took almost a year after state officials learned about the problem to inform residents.

There are questions as to when Governor Snyder learned of the problem.

The disease began after Flint changed its water supply source to the Flint River in April of 2014.
