Macomb Clerk Hauled Before Another Panel

Embattled Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger is scheduled to appear today before the Michigan Employment Relations Commission.
Last week, a Circuit Court judge found her in contempt of court for failing to follow a court order not to mistreat union members.

The judge did not penalize her, but warned her against further actions.

That ruling stemmed from an unsettled months-long lawsuit in which Spranger was accused of retaliating against AFSCME union members who work for her.

Over the past year, the union has filed at least 40 grievances against her.

The latest unfair labor case is scheduled to be heard today by the employment relations commission, which provides special judges in Detroit and Lansing to preside.
