Oak Park police fatally shot a crazed man who was charging them with a hatchet and threatened to shoot up his neighborhood.
Police said the 48-year-old man called them and said he had a hatchet and a gun. Police said he was threatening to shoot people in the 23000 block of Avon Road.
When officers arrived, he charged them with a hatchet, and an officer fired at the man, killing him. They’re wondering if this was suicide by cop.
Police say they’ve had runs at the house in the past and the man was known to police.
