Loose Lips Reveal Wiretaps

A sealed document was mistakenly opened in Detroit federal court disclosing wiretaps on a number of high-profile people in the Detroit area, in connection with the investigation into bribes and corruption in Macomb County.
The records mentioned the former Macomb Public Works Commissioner, Anthony Marrocco. The documents said among the target subjects were Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, a Wayne County judge Vonda Evans, Detroit City Counciman Gabe Leland, Brian Banks, a former state legislator, William Wild, Westland mayor, and Assad Turfe, the chief assistant to Wayne County Executive Warren Evans.
Also named was Gaspar Fiore, a towing executive who pleaded guilty to bribery.
Except for Fiore, none of the names we mentioned are charged with any crimes. The U-S Attorney’s office says that’s why documents are sealed.
