The new year means new problems for K-Mart. K-Mart has targeted a store in Richmond, in Macomb County, for closing, along with a store in Greenville, Michigan.
K-Mart will lay off 127 workers when it closes its store in Saint Clair Shores on Sunday
The closure will leave K Mart with just 20 stores in the state.
K Mart’s parent company, Sears Holdings has been closing hundreds of K Mart and Sears stores and retail experts have questioned how long the company can stay in business.
Unlike other stores that were closed, the Saint Clair Shores location won’t be vacant very long.
Kroger plans to buy the property, tear the store down and build a new Kroger supermarket.
