Brooks Patterson Has Surgery

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson says he had a pacemaker installed over the New Year’s holiday because his heart rate had dropped to a dangerous level.
Patterson tells Paul W Smith that he fainted at home. He says his doctor knew immediately what was happening, and he was rushed to a hospital where the pacemaker was implanted.

“I’m good for at least the next 10 years,” Patterson joked.

Patterson has had previous health problems for artery blockages, and had stents put in several years ago. Patterson was nearly killed in a car crash in 2012.
The Oakland County Executive is 79. His birthday was January 4.
