Fuel Economy Up Again

The average vehicle on U-S roads now gets more than 24 miles a gallon… a fuel economy record.

Average fuel economy was 24 pt 7 miles a gallon in the 2016 model year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Mileage this year is predicted to exceed 25 MPG.
Mazda led the industry in average fuel economy at 29.6 mpg.
Detroit’s Big Three automakers had the least fuel-efficient fleets . They sell a larger share of pickup trucks and SUVs than the foreign brands.

The EPA measures mileage actually recorded on the road, and is lower than fuel economy on new vehicle window stickers,
which are done in laboratories.
