Another Plea In Bribe Case

It’s another day in court for a defendant in the ongoing Macomb County corruption scandal.
Contractor Christopher Sorrentino has admitted he passed along 66-thousand dollars in kickbacks to a Macomb Township official.

Numerous reports say the money was given to a Macomb Township trustee who was also a former employee of the Macomb County Public Works Department.

Sorrentino’s guilty plea is a strong indication that federal prosecutors are looking closely at the county’s public works office.

He is facing up to 16 months in prison, but could get a lighter sentence because he is expected to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The latest guilty plea is part of the probe into bribes paid to officials in several communities for their efforts in approving contracts for the Rizzo trash hauling company.
