Auto Scandal Plea May Come Today

The widow of the late UAW vice-president General Holifield is due in Detroit Federal Court today.

Monica Morgan-Holiefield is expected to plead guilty today for her role in a massive scandal involving millions of dollars in cash and gifts passed between former Fiat Chrysler

executives and senior officials at the UAW.

Prosecutors say the funds had been earmarked for employee training and development.

Former Fiat Chrysler labor relations boss 58 year old Alphons Iacobelli pled guilty to the same charges last month and is facing up to 8 years in prison when he is sentenced in May.

In his guilty plea, he said he was acting on behalf of the automaker, supposedly with the goal of influencing union leaders at the bargaining table.

This seemed to indicate the corruption was more widespread than previously disclosed.

Fiat officials and the UAW have both denied knowing, or being involved in, of any wrongdoing.
