Macomb Clerk Battles Again In Court

It’s scheduled to be another day in court for embattled Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger.

The county, in an attempt to have her removed from office, filed suit in April of 2016 charging that she lied about her residency when she filed to run for the clerk’s position.

Spranger won the election in November of 2016.

County officials say the Warren home she listed as her residence was uninhabitable at the time.

Her attorney says she had registered to vote at the Warren address in question in 2011 and that this is the date the judge hearing the case should consider.

If the 2011 date is used, her attorney argues that this would mean that the county didn’t meet a 6-year statute of limitations for filing the lawsuit against her.

He filed a motion to dismiss the suit on these grounds.

A hearing on that motion is scheduled for today.
