Sprung from Murder Rap, Back To Slam For Wife-Beating

A man who spent 25 years in prison for murder before the case against him and his brother was dropped, is now faced with the possibility of going back to prison.
Thomas Highers has been charged with assaulting his estranged wife.

He was arrested on February 19th.

A police report indicated he had gone to her house in a rage because he thought she was cheating on him.

The couple, who married 2 years ago, have been separated for 7 months.

Highers and his brother Raymond had been convicted in the 1987 killing of a Detroit drug dealer.

25 years later a witness came forward with evidence that led to their eventual release from prison in 2012 pending a decision on whether they would be retried.

A year later, the Wayne County prosecutors office dismissed the charges against both men.
