Accused Cop Killer In Court

A preliminary exam is scheduled for today for a Macomb County man charged in the death of an Oakland County sheriff’s deputy.
22 year old Christopher Berak is charged with first degree murder in the death of deputy Eric Overall in the early morning hours of November 23rd.

About an hour earlier, Berak had gone to the Lapeer County jail and announced plans to break out one of his sons.

He then fled the scene, leading to a 22 mile police chase.

He fled into Oakland County.

Overall was attempting to throw some stop sticks across the freeway to disable his car.

That’s when authorities say Berak veered into the deputy, running him over.

Overall was the first Oakland County deputy to die in the line of duty in 80 years.
