A Michigan Prison Is Closing

A Muskegon prison is being shut down.
The West Shoreline Correctional facility for low-security inmates is being closed because of a sharp drop in the prison population statewide.

The prison had been in operation for 30 years.

It currently houses over 12-hundred prisoners.

They will be transferred to other state facilities.

The closing also leaves unanswered the jobs of its 174 employees.

The Michigan Department of Corrections say it is attempting to move them to other job openings.
