Temporary Clerk Named For Macomb

A JUDGE HAS APPOINTED A TEMPORARY CLERK IN MACOMB COUNTY.
Kathy Brower, a long time county employee who has worked for Macomb County since September 1992 WILL TAKE OVER THE JOB.

While the chief judge made the temporary appointment, all of the judges in the circuit court must meet to make an appointment to fill out the remainder of the term until the next general election.

Deputy Clerk Jackie Ryan was refusing to leave office , a day after her boss, county clerk Karen Spranger, was ordered removed for lying about residency.

Ryan said she believes Spranger was wrongfully removed and that she should be the “deputy in place,” and that the county has no authority to remove her from office.

County officials eventually got Ryan to leave. She was escorted out of the building by officers. Ryan will be placed on leave.

Ryan said she and Spranger were revealing fraud by the county. Ryan said she was going to go to Lansing to meet with U.S. marshalls.
