He Killed Woman Trying To Help Her Fight Off Dog

A Detroit man is due in court today on charges he killed a neighbor that he says he was trying to protect from a dog attack.

61 year old Michael Williams is facing a preliminary exam charged with the careless discharge of a weapon.

Williams said he was outside of his home at about 6:45 in the evening of October 9th when he saw his neighbor, 55 year old Patricia Crosby screaming and trying to ward off an attack by a dog.

He said his gun discharged as he held held it by his side while standing between her and the dog.

She fell to the ground and William said he carried her to his porch and then ran after the dog and fired two shots,, but missed.

When he went back to the porch he saw that the woman had been shot.

Police were called to the scene.

Williams was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the upper hip.
