A 19 year old Muslim woman who was attacked by a patient at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn is suing, claiming the hospital was negligence for allowing a discharged mental patient to roam the hospital.
The lawsuit says the man ran up behind her and punched her several times, before a security guard and a paramedic rushed in to help. The lawsuit says the attacker escaped from a group home, where he showed signs of schizophrenia.
57 year old John Deliz is jailed. The lawsuit says Beaumont should have detained Deliz until police arrived. Police had already been called.
Beaumont says security responded quickly to the incident.
