Unhappy U-M Instructors On The Job

Lecturers at the University of Michigan threatened to go on strike at the schools 3 campuses today — but talks are continuing, and the lecturers say they will be at work today.

The school has about 17-hundred lecturers.

They are non-tenured instructors.

The big issue is pay.

Negotiators say they have been working for months to try and get the pay issues resolved.

U of M officials says a walkout would violate terms of the current contract and the state law that prohibits strikes by public employees. But U-M trustee Mark Bernstein spoke out in support of the instructors.
