A Detroit People Mover mechanic made 174-thousand dollars in total pay in 2017, according to records from the Detroit Transportation Corporation, the unit that operates the People Mover. Reportedly, the employee has a base salary of 57-thousand dollars, but made the extra money mostly in overtime. 3 of the 4 maintenance supervisors also got six-figure salaries, even though their base salaries are 61-thousand.
The records showed that the Detroit People Mover had expenses 16 times more than collected from revenue. That’s according to the Mackinac Center’s news site.
