A preliminary exam is scheduled for today for a woman charged with leaving her 2 young children alone in a Detroit hotel room.
24 year old Michele Penick is charged with 2 counts of child abuse.
Police say it was pure luck that they found the children and even luckier that the kids weren’t hurt
Officer had responded to a shooting that had occurred in front of the hotel in the 20-thousand block of the James Couzens freeway on March 27th.
During that investigation, they noted a bullet hole in the window of one of the hotel room.
They went to check to see if anyone had been hurt and found the children.
The children were taken to Child Protective Services.
The mother was arrested later that same day.
