Snyder Wants To Tighten School Security

Governor Snyder proposes a new school safety plan to block violence in schools.

Snyder wants schools to develop comprehensive safety plans;
would send millions of dollars to schools for security upgrades;
require training for teachers to identify potential troublesome students;
train police in school safety;
and bring in health agencies to help in active violence situations.

The governor’s proposal includes 20-million dollars to be sent to districts to update buildings with security features, and would triple the budget of a state tip line that students have been using to report threats.
