Pot Vote May Be Coming, High Turnout Expected

You may get to vote to legalize marijuana.
The state elections board has approved petitions to legalize marijuana in Michigan. The pot group brought in enough signatures on petitions. The group says there would be age restrictions, limitations on where you could use marijuana, and how much you could carry. The state legislature now can write it’s own law legalizing pot, or put a competing issue on the ballot.
The pot group says that if recreational marijuana is allowed sales in Michigan could exceed $1 billion a year. The proposal calls for legalizing possession and sale of up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana for recreational use. It would be taxed at 10 percent, plus the existing 6 percent sales tax.
