Sean English will compete in his first track meet since May 24, 2016.
Sean won the Catholic League title that day.
Sean is the U of D Jesuit student athlete who was severely injured more than a year ago when he and his family stopped to help a carload of people who had wrecked on the I-96 in Detroit. Dr. Cynthia Ray, of Henry Ford Hospital, had also stopped to help. Both Sean and Dr. Ray were hit by a teenaged driver who slammed into the accident scene. Dr. Ray, a cancer doctor, was killed. Sean’s right leg was amputated from the knee down, and his left leg was also severely injured.
Sean has been fitted with a prosthetic blade, and is expected to compete in the 16-hundred meter run, which he won in that last race.
