Woman Charged In Latest Drunk Driving Deaths

Charges have been filed against a Detroit woman for the crash that killed two women in Detroit.
35 year old Taneka Blanding is charged with speeding thru a red light on Detroit’s west side over the weekend, slammed into a car and killing the two women in that car. Blanding is charged with 2nd degree murder and drunk driving causing death.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s office says “On May 5, 2018 at 10:00 p.m., it is alleged that Blanding was driving her cat at a high rate of speed when she disregarded a red signal at Greenfield and Puritan in Detroit. Blanding crashed into a car driven by a 35-year-old woman with a 28-year-old woman in the front passenger seat. The two victims, both Detroit residents, were taken to a local hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.

The defendant has been charged with two counts each of Second Degree Murder, Operating While Under the Influence Causing Death, Reckless Driving-Death Resulting. She is also charged with one count each of Operating While Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a High Blood Alcohol Level, and Driver- Open Intoxicant in a Motor Vehicle.”
