Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal shooting involving a Dearborn Heights police officer.
Officers had spotted the man at about 3:30 yesterday morning walking on Telegraph near Warren carrying a rifle.
They tried to talk with the man and words were exchanged.
Police say the man pointed the rifle at them and was shot and killed.
The man shot was identified as a 38 year old man from Redford.
Family members indicate he had been having mental problems.
