A portion of Grand Traverse County is under a public health advisory after more than 8,000 gallons of untreated sewage leaked after a force main break.
The sewage spill occurred near the intersection of Five Mile and Holiday Road near the shoreline of East Grand Traverse Bay.
Residents and guests should stay clear of the area.
Grand Traverse County officials detected the leak Tuesday and immediately diverted the flow to a gravity sewer.
The cause of the main break is still unknown.
