The Kresge Foundation will give $ 1.5 million in grants for 18 new projects to improve Detroit neighborhoods.
The grants are part of a $ 6 million program called Kresge Innovative Projects: Detroit.
Empty lots in Virginia Park’s neighborhood will transform into a new park with play equipment and picnic tables.
New retail spaces will be created in Southwest Detroit. Sports, health and wellness facilities of North Rosedale Park will be renovated in Northwest Detroit.
The projects were picked from 178 applications of people living in Detroit.
