Train Station Has New Owner

The old Michigan Central Train Station building is no longer owned by the Maroun family. Ownership of the vacant building has been transferred to another company.

A warranty deed and a quit-claim deed transfers ownership of the old train station and an old book depository building next door from a Maroun family real estate company to New Investment Properties Company one and two. The two companies are newly incorporated. Names of the owners do not appear on the paperwork.
Crain’s Detroit Business reports that all indications are that the moves are part of the plan by Ford Motor Company to acquire the train station and other properties nearby.
Ford has just opened a mobility and electric vehicle center in an old factory building in the Corktown area.
Ford says only that they will share more details in the future.
Mayor Duggan tells Paul W. Smith on Mackinac Island, “we’re going to have a pretty big story next month about a business coming to Detroit.”
