A Novi man is due in court today on charges he killed his wife.
Police say 31 year old Derrick Dixon used a necktie to strangle the woman following an argument about a pending divorce.
Dixon told police he killed his wife shortly after his parents had stopped by to pick up their three children.
He was found slumped over on a couch in their mobile home and had apparently taking some type of pills in a suicide attempt.
Testimony at his preliminary exam revealed that Dixon had attempted suicide in 2017 and also as a teenager.
He was found competent to stand trial.
