A Detroit man charged with robbing and sexually assaulting a woman at the Detroit Opera House is due in court today.
Prosecutors say 25 year old Darius Jackson confronted a 61 year old woman on the 5th floor of the Opera House Parking structure.
It was just after 11 at night on February 26th.
Investigators say he approached her with a gun, grabbed her purse, then forced her into the back seat of her car where she was beaten and assaulted.
He fled the scene.
The woman was able to find a security officer who called 9-1-1.
Police began a search for the man, but he turned himself in some three hours later.
He has been undergoing a competency review and is due back in court today for an update on that review.
