‘We Were Like Bonnie And Clyde’

They compared themselves to Bonnie and Clyde. But like the legendary bank robbers, their luck ran out.

Police say that a married couple and another man have been arrested for the armed robbery of at a Citizens Bank in Taylor that went awry when the bag of money they were given exploded. It was a red dye pack, and smoke and money flew out the windows of their getaway car.
Police say David Johnson and Robert Gunther are charged with staging the armed robbery of the bank on Eureka Road, in which they told everyone to get on the floor and give them money, at gunpoint.
They got money from customers, and the bag of money from the bank… which blew up in their car, driven by Connie Johnson, the wife of one of the robbers, David Johnson. Money flew out that was picked up by people on the street. Gunther took off on foot and was arrested.
The Johnsons were stopped in the vehicle later in Pontiac and arrested.
Police say Connie Johnson told them they were like Bonnie and Clyde.
Connie Johnson also said she drove the two men to another robbery earlier in the day, but the men couldn’t get any money because the bank had a glass partition.
