Hit-Run Of Bike Rider In Court

A preliminary examination is scheduled for today for a 21 year old Commerce Township man charged in the hit-and-run death of a 14 year old Wixom Boy.
Miguel Cerda was ordered held on a 350-thousand dollars cash bond after prosecutors said they feared he might try to go to Mexico.

Cerda had to have the help of a Spanish speaking interpreter when he was arraigned.

Police say he hit Justin Lee who was riding a friend’s bike when he was hit and killed.

Cerda was identified through tips to police and arrested the next day in Lansing.

He has been charged with reckless driving causing death and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Both charges are 15 year felonies.
