GOP Candidate Fundraiser Scrapped By Country Club

Lena Epstein says the cancellation of a fundraiser for her political campaign by the Franklin Hills Country Club is part of a troubling growing trend of intolerance of political views. Epstein is a former Trump campaign chair in Michigan and is running for the 11th District U-S House seat, and had planned to hold a fundraiser at Franklin Hills last night. But she says it was canceled by the club board of directors because of her support of Trump.

The decision reportedly was made by the club after a prominent member, Michael Simon, in a social media post,  compared Trump’s actions with the Holocaust and said that Epstein’s support of Trump was in conflict of the moral center of the Jewish community. Epstein comes from a business family which has been a member of the club for years.
