Here’s The New Opioids Law

A new state law is now in effect that greatly limits the amount of opioids that doctors can prescribe to patients suffering from acute pain.
Under the law that went into effect yesterday, Doctors cannot prescribe more than a 7-day supply of opioids for patients in pain from things like broken bones, bad backs,

most surgeries and pain that is considered relatively short-term.

The purpose of the new law is to crack down on opioid abuse

Figures from the U-S Department of Health and Human Human Services show that nearly 80-percent of Heroin users became addicted to heroin after abusing opioids.

The new law does not apply to patients with chronic pain.
