Carjack-Shooting Suspect In Court

It was a carjacking in Dearborn that ended in a shootout with police.

3 charged in the incident and are due in court today for a preliminary exam.
22 year old Kimani Waiters is charged with assault with intent to murder.

26 year old Donte Davis and 25 year old Marquette Jones with carjacking and armed robbery.

Prosecutors say the three carjacked and robbed a 32 year old man in Dearborn on June 20th.

Waiters fled in the stolen car, the other two men drove off in their own car.

A police officer spotted the stolen car and tried to stop it.

Police say Waiters drove at the officer while firing several shots at him.

The officer fired one shot.

Waiters fled, but jumped from the car when he was then cornered by a 2nd police car.

He tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended.

The other 2 were arrested a short time later.
