A Dearborn woman whose home day care center was the scene of a shooting in which two young children were wounded is scheduled to go on trial today.
32 year old Samantha Banks is facing charges of child abuse and felony firearm charges.
Her 33 year old husband Timothy Banks previous pled guilty pled guilty to 6 counts of 2nd degree child abuse.
He is to be sentenced in September.
The two ran an unlicensed day care center.
On September 27th of last year, there were six children in the home.
One of her 3 year old sons had gone upstairs and found his father’s 2 handguns.
A gun discharged, hitting a 3 year old boy in the face and another 3 year old in the shoulder.
Prosecutors say the couple exposed the children to the risks of being harmed by leaving loaded, unsecured guns in the home.
