Baby’s Death Sends Mother, Friend To Court

A Detroit mother and her friend are due in court today to see if they will be bound over for trial in the death of the mother’s 11 month old daughter.

It’s a preliminary exam for the mother, 26 year old Dasiah Jordan and 28 year old Tonya Peterson.

Prosecutors say Jordan left her daughter at Peterson’s house on Ferguson in Detroit at 11:30 the night of July 6th so that she could visit friends.

Investigators say the infant roamed the house unattended, fell through a hole in a bedroom floor, and drowned in standing water and sewage in the basement.

Both women have been charged with manslaughter.
